420, Humboldt, Yum
My favorite show of '07 and I happened to be standing front row left side. Absolute beauty. The music and the recording make it 5 stars alone, the fact it was April 20th in Eureka, California made it even better. Would love to see this year's Humboldt/Chico run posted if anyone was there. Much love thanks Mark!
***(2nd review updated in honor of the third anniversary of this one.)
This show still represents one of the best Yonder shows I have seen or heard and one of my 'go to shows'. The song selection, the band's banter, the atmosphere in Humboldt on that day of days, and great company made it personally unforgettable, but objectively speaking this is one of the top 5 shows sound quality-wise you can get from Yonder's Archive collection. Song highlights include:
-Legalize it medley (especially Dave's story, "I had the top down and the windows rolled up.")
-Skulls - come on, it's hilarious and awesome
-Southbound - nice early version of this one
-New Horizons > Don't Bogart that Joint > New Horizons - just awesome
-No Expectations - nice semi-regular set opener but jammed well
-Night Out - a rare treat from Adam on lead vocals
-Ruby > They Loved Each Other - a chestnut into a Dead chestnut, pretty wicked
-Rag Mama - real tight version
-Only a Northern Song - I am sucker for it and can't get enough of it
-On the Run > Steep Grades > On the Run - nice bookend for the set
I kept telling the boys to come up and do a song acoustic, and you can hear Jeff agree at the end of On the Run before the encore. "That's what our thought is." So great to end it with a Hit Parade of Love! Cheers to the band and to Taper Mark for always contributing huge to this collection.
